Entrances built into the top bars; one side has part of it carved out. This makes the entrances movable, and pretty easily adjustable; it also means one can pop off the roof without exposing any of the hive. I've made the holes extend to a little over 3" deep, which gives about 2" of overlap into the actual hive.
