The entrance is just a crack in the top bars (about the size of a single bar, which is 1 1/4"). That means an entrace on both sides of the hive. The reason for the entrance being away from the nuc adapter is in hopes that they'll build straighter comb, as well as moving the brood chamber into the top-bar portion (so we can remove the deep frames from the nuc adapter).
